A Little History

Doogie's®: CIRCA THE 50'S

Putting Really Good Food Back Into Fast Food

Our first gig, those many years ago in Maine, we did hot dogs, burgers, Philly steaks and fresh breaded seafood. The wife and I worked side by side. She ran the kitchen and I ran my mouth. Since then we've done full service, casual gourmet, formal Italian, full bar and singalong piano. I even did concession trailers at fairs all over the country. Now she stays home and does the books and I still run my mouth. We have come full circle and achieved our life's dream: a joint where we have as much fun as you do.

The huge hot dogs are the hook, and the char-grilled burgers are a big part of our business. However, the mainstay is the Philly Cheese Steaks, served with grilled onions, mushrooms and peppers. We sell almost four hundred per week in Newington alone. That's because we make "The Best Philly Outside Philly".

Our six ounce burgers are freshly ground, char-grilled and dressed to order.

We also offer a grilled chicken breast sandwich.

And lots of different fries: Regular Fries, Curly Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Chili Cheese Fries, Onion Rings. Worth a visit just for the fries!

Perhaps best of all, we do a combo with anything on the menu. The customer says "Do It To It®" and voila, fries & soda make it a meal. The customer saves money and it's a grand slam for letting customers do it their way and building business at the same time.

We do only what we do best. If you're not in the mood, come another day.

So drop in, have a Philly or a hot dog with sassy relish, and imagine the next girl through the door wearing a poodle skirt. If you like it, spread the word; if not, tell us, and we'll make you happy.

Doogie's® Principles

This is from a poster that hangs on the wall of each of our restaurants. It helps encourage customers to join in the lighthearted banter that is always part of our friendly atmosphere.

#1. If you're cranky, come back another time.

#2. Gimme your name, don't abuse the help and wait'll we call you.

#3. We're neither slow nor fast - we're half-fast.

#4. If it's not on the menu, it's 'cause Doogie doesn't like it.

#5. If your food gets cold while you gab, don't blame us.

#6. Red Sox fans welcome; Yankee fans tolerated.

#7. If you can't come in twice a week, send someone else instead.

#8. If we're closed when you get here, you should have come earlier.

#9. Eat it and beat it, and we'll see you next week.

#10. If you don't like the way I run my business, buy a franchise!
